Summertime, and the Singing is Easy
For a good time try olde tyme this weekend at Meltdown.
This Saturday, Nerdist Theatre is going silver age. The Captured Aural Phantasy players have pressed their suits and stocked up on Brylcreem in preparation for their next show, Comic Book Summer Camp. Park your time machine on Sunset and join these retro revivalists for a unique variety show that's sure to impress funny book fans of every era.
Step into decades past and strut to the tune of surf-rock from opening band The Noble Gasses. When you've twisted yourself tired, prepare for a main event filled with musical numbers, comedic bits and campfire songs sung to mid-century melodies. Then let the air fill with the sounds of summer love (and perhaps some sabotage?) as Lois Lane and Lana Lang compete for a young Superboy's affections in a dramatic comic book reading complete with live sound effects and a backdrop of projected art.
Theatre of the mind meets theatre of the Meltdown when vaudeville returns for a single night at the hands of Captured Aural Phantasy. And at the price of just $10 a ticket, it's a lot cheaper than some other retro investments.
